This exclusive tour with a local and certified SAMEX Tour guide takes you to Chinchero, Maras Moray and Ollantaytambo before embarking on a scenic train ride to the iconic citadel of Machu Picchu.

Highlights

Location: Sacred valley, Machu Picchu, our 7th Wonder is the final destination but discover the history of Peru through the journey

Tour Type: A relaxing visit to the highlights of Peru and the Inca Empire.

Good For: Those who want to discover the ancient History, people living style, traditions, customs, spiritual experiences in the Andes.

Difficulty: No hiking, but lots of walking around the sites in Private service.

Places Visited:

Chinchero. Is a very picturesque and welcoming town. Surrounded by fertile fields, it is considered the town of the rainbow. Chinchero contains a great richness of culture and of customs and they are contained in its buildings, festivities, clothing, food, and more.They wear their traditional costumes of red and black with beautiful designs that appear to be made by the Gods, they are so finely made.

Moray/Moray. This archeological site is believed (in theory) to have been used by the Incas as an agricultural experiment center.

The Salt Mines. Is a vast salt mine set in a breathtaking little valley in the Andean mountains

Ollantaytambo. Surrounded by the sacred mountains, where we will again discover the magnificence of the Incan constructions and the beauty of the local people in their traditional dress.

Machu Picchu. The lost city of the Incas surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery and with some of the most impressive Inca buildings ever constructed, Machu Picchu iss the highlight of Peru.

Itinerary

Day 1CUSCO – CHINCHERO – MARAS MORAY SALINERAS – OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES

We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 am in our transport. Then we will drive you to the village of Chinchero.

Chinchero:

It is the center of Weaving in Perú. Here, the local women entertain tourist with weaving demonstrations.

The women will show how they produce different colours for the wool they spin and weave. At Chinchero it is posible to see how the wool is washed, dyed and spun.

They can make an alpaca jumpers right in front of you. The ladies here dress in traditional attires. They are happy to display how the weaving is done.

Maras:

We will then continue to Maras. Here you will visit their typical streets and taste the famous Chicha. It is a drink made from corn which during the Incan times including nowadays is used for special ceremonies.

Moray:

Then we will continue driving until we arrive at the archaeological site of Moray. It was an important agricultural area. Moray, during the Incan times, was possibly one of the most important agricultural research centers. Here experiments were conducted at different heights crop, the arrangement of its platforms produces a variety of micro-climates. It is built taking the center of the concentric circular terraces higher temperature and decreasing gradually outward lower temperatures.

Maras Salt Mines:

After this, we will drive to our next stop and visit the famous Salineras or Salt mines. The salt is extracted in artisanal form, the Salt Mines are made up of about 3000 small wells that have been extracted since the Inca times. aIt was an economic exchange way.

Urubamba:

Thereafter, we will drive to Urubamba to have a delicious buffet lunch.

Ollantaytambo:

After lunch, we continue to one of the original Inca towns of Ollantaytambo (2792m/9160ft). It is built by the Inca Pachacutec.

Here we will visit the archeological site. It has many structures such as the Temple of the Sun and more.

In the afternoon we board the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town) (2080m/6820ft) to spend the night.

Overnight in Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival at Aguas Calientes train station, you will be welcomed by our hotel staff and South American Exclusive Tours Peru guide.

We will assist, take you to the hotel and brief you all concerning for the next day guided tour.

Day 2MACHUPICCHU GUIDED TOUR – CUSCO

Quite early in the morning, you will be boarding the bus from Aguas Calientes to the Inca citadel. It is a 25 minutes journey up the hill. On reaching the entrance of Machu Picchu, our guide will be meeting you and will assist you in clearing the control and entering the citadel. 

Machu Picchu Tour:

Here we will give you a two hours guided tour of Machu Picchu citadel. After the tour, you will have some free time to walk around the citadel. If you have booked in advance to hike to Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will be directing you to the respective entrance. 

Alternatively, you can hike to the Sungate. It is free and takes 2 hours to hike back and forth from the citadel. Those on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu enter the citadel through the Sungate. It offers a spectacular view of the citadel. 

After exploring Machu Picchu, you will be taking a bus back down to Aguas Calientes. Here you will be boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. 

Once in Ollantaytambo, our representative will be meeting you and will be driving you back to your hotel in Cusco.
